Ryan co-owns Creekside Physiotherapy, a multidisciplinary clinic in Kimberley BC that provides concussion and vestibular rehabilitation care in the East Kootenay region. As a rural practitioner, he has a unique perspective in working with limited resources and referral options in his region.
Ryan’s graduate research explored the relationship between attention and anxiety on motor control in a dual-task context. He has treated vestibular, neurological, and persisting pain disorders since graduating from McMaster University in 2003. He completed his Certificate in Vestibular Rehabilitation at Emory University in 2016 and joined the Shift Concussion Management Group in 2015 as a clinical instructor.
His interest in persistent pain, whiplash disorders, neuroplasticity, and functional neuro-optometry helps him see the many dimensions associated with treating persistent concussion patterns.
Presentation: Continuum of Care In Managing Workplace Concussions
- Treating concussions and related injuries often requires an integrated approach that may differ with workplace injuries versus sport related injuries
- Understanding how and why workplace related concussions may need a different approach will be discussed
- Strategies and for early intervention will be provided in addition to how to approach more complicated and persisting patterns related to post-concussion syndrome
- A systems-based model of treatment will be provided within the context of current evidence-based practice
